I love my Nintendo Switch Lite, it's a damn near perfect handheld system, especially as a busy person who has limited time to game.
I have never owned another Nintendo Switch, even though I was tempted by the OLED, but I resisted.
But I want a dedicated handheld experience, I have my PC for everything else.
And the Nintendo Switch Lite does that.
No Nintendo Switch 2 For Me....Yet
I won't be buying a Switch 2 though, not until Nintendo do one thing.
A Switch 2 Lite.
With an OLED screen.
That’s it. That's all I want.
OK, if they release a Switch 2 Lite with LCD screen I will still get it, you know it, and I know it.
But with an OLED screen? Makes me giddy just thinking about it.
And yes, I know it probably won't happen, but still.
The Switch Lite Just Feels Perfect
It’s light, it’s compact, and it doesn’t creak when you hold it wrong.
It feels like a like a real handheld.
Not a console pretending to be one. But the screen?
Once you have seen OLED in all its glory, you just can’t unsee the difference.
If you know, you know.
I have an OLED TV, and would never go back from that, and I've played the OLED version of the Switch quite a few times as a family member owns one.
And the Switch Lite’s LCD feels so dim, washed out, and just kind of sad in comparison.
So now I’m stuck in handheld purgatory.
Comfort or clarity.
Once you’ve played Hollow Knight in pitch-black caves with true blacks, you’re ruined, forever.
And I want that in the handheld I actually use.
Now, I do still have a Playstation Vita, remember those? I loved that too, and still dig it out now and again, and I wish Sony had supported it more as playing on that OLED screen was beautiful.
Damn you Sony. Will never trust those bastards again.
Dear Nintendo: Give Us a Perfect Handheld
I’m not asking for power. I’m not asking for features.
I don’t want it to dock. I don’t care about TV mode.
I just want a clean, minimal Nintendo Switch 2 Lite OLED version.
Same form factor as my current Switch Lite, that fits in my pocket, but with an even better battery.
Keep it simple.
Keep it solid.
Make it shine.
So Nintendo, if you're reading this, and lets be honest, why wouldn't they be reading this? Give me a Switch 2 Lite with an OLED screen..
No frills, and no gimmicks.
Just a beautiful screen in the best-shaped handheld Nintendo’s ever made.
Because for a lot of us, handheld is the main mode.
And a Switch Lite 2, with the right upgrades, could be the most perfect way to play.
OLED isn’t a luxury anymore.
It’s a necessity.
