Here are some games I like that are fun to play with your partner. Now, not all of them are 2 player, but that doesn't matter, that can still be co-opped in different ways.
A Short Hike
Time to beat: 1–2 hours
Platforms: PC / Switch / PS / Xbox
A short hike is the perfect game to pass the controller between you. Think Animal Crossing meets Breath of the Wild, but you’re a tiny bird on a tiny mountain. Go at your own pace, explore together, trade turns gliding around and looking for shiny stuff. No stress, just vibes.
It Takes Two
Time to beat: Full game 10–15 hours, but you can absolutely enjoy just a few chapters
Platforms: PC / PS / Xbox / Switch
Yes, it’s longer , but you don’t need to finish the whole thing to get the best parts. Every level is its own weird genre. One moment you're doing platforming, next you're in a top-down action game. It’s a couple’s therapy session wrapped in creative gameplay. But actually fun. Mostly.
Unravel Two
Time to beat: 4-5 hours
Platforms: PC / PS / Xbox / Switch
Two little yarn creatures tied together, literally and emotionally. It’s a beautiful physics-based puzzle platformer where teamwork is everything. But it’s also mellow and thoughtful. You’ll die occasionally, but you’ll do it adorably.
Botanicula
Time to beat: 3–4 hours
Platforms: PC / Mac
A hand-drawn, no-dialogue point-and-click game about saving a magical tree from parasites. It’s odd. It’s funny. It’s great for two brains poking around together like, “Wait, what if we click that mushroom?” You’ll laugh, you’ll “huh?”, and you’ll feel like kids again.
Snipperclips
Time to beat: ~2–3 hours
Platforms: Nintendo Switch
You cut each other into shapes to solve puzzles. That’s it. And yes, it will devolve into chaos, in the best way. Great for a light session when you want some laughs and teamwork without stress.
Wandersong
Time to beat: ~4 hours (play in parts)
Platforms: PC / PS / Switch / Xbox
One of you can play the bard. The other can help with the singing puzzles, make decisions, and vibe along. It’s funny, weird, sweet, and makes for a really fun shared experience, especially with someone sitting beside you pointing and going “try that color note!”
Hidden Folks
Time to beat: Pick-up-and-play
Platforms: PC / Mobile / Switch
Think Where’s Waldo, but interactive. And noisy. And adorable. It’s pure joy to point at a chaotic black-and-white world together and say “AHA! Found the guy with the spoon hat.” Zero commitment, endless entertainment.
Honorable Mentions for Co-Play
-
Florence – More of a “watch together” than co-op, but it’s a quick emotional ride worth sharing.
-
Donut County – Take turns being a hole in the ground. Laugh. Repeat. [Donut County Review]
-
Overcooked (Tutorial + 1 level) – Do not play more unless your relationship is rock solid.
-
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes – One defuses, one panics. Best in small doses.
Co-Op Doesn’t Have to Be a Grind
You don’t need matching headsets, 10 hours free, and a double-gaming rig to enjoy games together. Sometimes, it’s just about 30 minutes on the couch, two controllers, and something weird and delightful to experience as a team.
Now go. Fall in love. Blow each other up in Snipperclips. And always remember: if you're both laughing, you're winning.
